FAQs

Q: How long will it take to fix my IT Support issue?
A: We often have no idea but will play fair with you. Always. Trust us until we give you reason not to.

Q: How much should I pay for IT?
A: The magic number to benchmark against is £100pppm spread over a 3 year period (Average life of desk-side IT kit). That includes all IT related costs; The kit, IT support, connectivity, training etc.

Q: What is IT Coaching?
A: It is 1 on 1 IT Training. You learn what you need to learn, in context. Usually blended with classroom IT Training to get the general picture first. Not always required but often useful to bump over the IT hump.

Q: Should I insource or outsource IT Support?
A: It’s a matter of cash and numbers. Under 10 users just outsource, no arguments. Between 10 & 20 it can be grey so try what works for you in a flexible arrangement. Over 20 users you will need someone to be functionally responsible on a daily basis (Add users, check backup, liaise with helpdesk etc) backed up by an outsourced IT Support partner. When you get to 40/50 users insourcing normally makes financial sense and sometimes with an outsourced backup. Total cost of ownership of a useful small biz IT monkey is £3-5k/mth.

Q: Why won’t my IT Support company pro-actively suggest the best IT for me?
A: Are you paying them to do so? If you are then sack them. If you’re not, pay them to do so. For most it’s an hour or two per month to floor walk, monitor logs and check in generally. Small beans.

Q: Anyone who knows about computers can build me a website right?
A: No. There are so many different skills in the IT sector. It’s like asking your car mechanic to fix your boiler because he uses the same wrench. IT Support is different to IT Training, building web sites, managing SEO, delivering social media campaigns. Our team sometimes cross fertilise but often not.
